Si bien ya los corredores están listos para el maratón de Filadelfia, las carreteras que circundan el evento sufrián cierres y desvíos para la celebración del evento el domingo.
El AACR Philadelphia Marathon inició en el 1994 con 1,500 participantes hasta convertirse en uno de los diez eventos atléticos más importantes de la nación. Esta es su vigésima quinta edició.
Los organizadoreshicieron de la actividad una del fin de semana completo, del 16 al 18 de noviembre, que consiste en lo siguiente:
- Dos días de Health & Fitness Expo: viernes de 11 a.m. a 9 p.m. y sábado de 10 a.m. a 7 p.m. en el centro de Convenciones de Pensilvania.
- Un medio maratón Dietz & Watson el sáabado a las 7:30 a.m.
- Ocho millas de carrera (8K) de Rothman Orthopaedics el sábado a las 10:45 a.m.
- Las carreras Dunkin’ Munchkin: el sábado desde las 12 p.m.
- El maratón AACR arranca a las 7 a.m. del domingo.
Se esperan retrasos en las vías debido a la cantidad de participantes y sobre todo los espectadores. la recomendación de las agencias de transporte es utilizar vías alternas, evitar áreas cercanas a la carrera y salir con bastante tiempo de casa para arribar a su destino.
